I have to admit, when I was in my late teens to my very early 20s I had the worse attitude when I went to work. My outlook was to go to work, do the bare minimum, and then collect a paycheck. I did the bare minimum, had no respect for co-workers, and didn’t care about how my actions and behavior affected others.

One thing I am proud of during that time was that no matter how bad of an attitude I had toward my job, I still provided outstanding customer service to customers who visited the store that I was working at. That was the only thing I was proud of, but it still doesn’t make up for my terrible attitude and outlook.

Over the years, I look back and it hurts to my core how terrible I was as a trusted and “valued” employee. Some would tell me that I was young and not mature but that’s not an excuse.

No matter what you do, be the best, and when it’s time to check in for work – it doesn’t matter if it’s your own business or if you’re part of a team, pour that shit on and give it 108%. It doesn’t matter if you’re sweeping floors or building world-class products, give it everything you have.

If you feel leadership is slacking, don’t do it for them, do it for the customers because we are all customers at some point. Treat customers how you want to be treated. Do it for yourself. If you can uphold a strong work ethic while dealing with terrible leadership, clicky co-workers, and all the political gossip it’ll make you a stronger person. Be the CEO or Boss that you see yourself as, and perform as if you are already the CEO. If you own your business and it’s a day when you feel like watching TV instead of working on your dream, get up and get to work. Push towards your goals and dreams. Working on your dream when you don’t feel like it is the best time to work because that takes discipline.

Build that strong work ethic because it will take you far in life. It builds integrity, and a lot of people will recognize a person who works hard and believes in themselves over anything.

Pour it on everything you do. When you work, pour it on. When you play, pour it on. When you’re spending time with your family, pour it on. Put the phone down and be present. Go hard in everything you do.

Before the day ends, write down “Pour It On” on a piece of paper and stick it by your bed so when you wake up in the morning you get out of bed ready to deliver the best version of yourself in everything you do that day.

It’s all or nothing. Carry yourself as a champion and deliver. Do this consistently for 63 days, and I guarantee you’ll be a new person. Make it happen.
